Wedding at the zoo part 2!

Back in January, I posted this fun save the date for a wedding at the Bronx Zoo.  My post at the time was one of the alts that didn't make the cut, so here's the one that did.

Clockwise from top left: save the date, reception card, invitation, reply card

This invitation set was the first I've done using thermography, which for the average joe means the ink is slightly raised and shiny.  This technique, along with a minimal palette of black and white, ups the formality automatically. It's a little tricky to capture on camera but here are some close ups.

It's a real Noah's arc mixture of animals up there!

The couple's dog made it into this version as well, a little detail that really makes custom invitations custom.  That is not the couple's flamingo, however.

Close up of the reception card

The reply card. Those might just be parking lot sea gulls in the corner.

Full set, with save the date upper left

Let me get real for a second. While I admit that my favorite design was the one from my original post, I'm perfectly content with this version as well.  It's more sophisticated and formal than the other, which was more fitting for the event.  I always present options for custom orders and don't present anything that I wouldn't be happy with.  Don't be fooled, there are some stinkers early on that I don't show anybody but the depths of my computer.  Sometimes you got to check yo ego and remember who you're working for!

This was definitely one of my favorite invitation suites to design.  So fun and unique.  They were able to carry the animal silhouettes through to the programs, welcome bags, and even the cake!
