DIY Christmas gifts for my bffs

This year, a few of my very good friends will be getting some very special Christmas presents: Ke$ha themed ornaments.  Be honest music elitists—Ke$ha sings a good party song. And although I don't really consider myself a party girl, my friends and I won't deny it's fun to dance around to her raunchy, catchy jams.  Now that I've defended myself I'll show you what I've created.

Hey girl, hey

These mini bottles purchased from Amazon were filled with glitter from confetti.com in the party rockin' shades of watermelon and prisma silver (because I guess there are a lot of silvers). I created the labels in photoshop with lyrics from her infamous single Blow, "Go insane, go insane, throw some glitter, make it rain."

Words to live by

In case you haven't seen the video, it stars Dawson Leary so I highly recommend watching it.  Tie some hemp cord around the bottle neck and you've got a top Christmas present perfect for the friends you met in Catholic school.

Einstein won the Nobel Prize...

...but not for his theory of relativity!  It was in fact his discovery of the photoelectric effect that won him the award.  This information is a great pickup line for a guy OR a girl and may be useful one day during bar trivia.

This sketch of Einy is actually the front of my bf's valentine's day card.  We are sometimes dorky-cute like that, but not in an annoying, Zoey Deschanel kind of way. 

Cheap crafts, cheap laughs

While it's unlikely you'll actually make any of her campy crafts, Amy Sedaris' latest book Simple Times: Crafts for Poor People will keep you laughing and maybe even get the creative juices flowing. The book pokes fun at the state of the economy and is laced with Amy's candid humor. It's certainly not for the serious crafter, and a lot of the projects will take you back to your arts and craft days at summer camp. I find in the photo spreads of Amy in costume, the illustrations, and prop styling to be my favorite, and the most inspiring, part. It's also one of those books where you don't have to read the chapters in order, so it's great when you don't have a lot of time. If you can't get to the book store, Amazon lets you browse through a handful of pages.
